Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Abilene). They claimed a resounding 69-14 win over the Lubbock Westerners on the road. Considering the Eagles have won four contests by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Leading Abilene to victory were Ethan Joyner and Tristan Beal. Joyner rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, while Beal threw for 340 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt. Joyner's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 116 rushing yards dating back to last season.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Abilene, bringing their record for this year to 6-2. As for Lubbock, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Abilene will welcome Tascosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Abilene knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Tascosa likes a good challenge. As for Lubbock, they will head out on the road to challenge Caprock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Caprock is coming into the match with three straight wins at home, so Lubbock will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
