Basketball Recap: Skylar Herington's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Randolph over Frewsburg

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Randolph can now relate to. They fell just short of the Frewsburg Bears by a score of 50-47 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bears this season, with their most recent loss being a 49-47 defeat back in February.

Randolph's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Skylar Herington, who posted 24 points. Herington's evening made it 19 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Steward, who scored nine points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Frewsburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Jimerson led the charge by dropping a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 boards gave Jimerson a new career-high. Jadyn Trocki was another key player, shooting 42% from the field on her way to 11 points along with eight assists and three steals.

Randolph has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. The win made it two in a row for Frewsburg and bumps their season record up to 17-5.

As of now, neither Randolph nor Frewsburg have any future games scheduled.
