The Beloit Memorial Purple Knights will take on the Union Grove Broncos at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Beloit Memorial not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6, 2024 (when they won 20-0). They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Martin Luther.
Rilynne Cleland made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Evelynn Karr was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Abigail Middleton was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Union Grove waltzed into their game on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Eagles 12-5.
Like Beloit Memorial, Union Grove also got a great game from a two-way player: Marlee Lange. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off ten hits. Lange has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Santarelli, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Katie Madrigal, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Union Grove's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Beloit Memorial, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-11.
Beloit Memorial might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Union Grove when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Purple Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
