Softball Game Preview: Monomoy Sharks vs. Pittsfield Generals

The Monomoy Sharks will head out to square off against the Pittsfield Generals at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Monomoy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.

Monomoy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs last Wednesday, they were much more limited against Wareham on Friday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The match marked the Sharks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Monomoy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kiley Mawn, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Pittsfield and Wahconah Regional, and Wahconah Regional kept the tradition alive. The Generals came up short against the Warriors on Monday, falling 10-0.

Monomoy's loss ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-2. As for Pittsfield, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-13.
