Basketball Recap: Rocksprings Piles Up the Points Against Leakey

A well-balanced attack led Rocksprings over Leakey in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Rocksprings Angoras blew the Leakey Eagles out of the water with an 84-35 final score. With the Angoras ahead 55-12 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Rocksprings had a senior duo take command as Hunter Taylor shot 7-for-10 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 34 points and 15 boards and Dwayne Rivera went 13 of 17 en route to 28 points along with six steals and five assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Taylor has scored at least a third of Rocksprings' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Roy Estrada, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Rocksprings was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Rocksprings' victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Leakey, they are on a 32-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-19.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rocksprings has already played their next match (against Nueces Canyon), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Leakey will be playing in front of their home fans against Knippa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
