Baseball Recap: Bennington Gets the Win

Bennington is still undefeated this season after their game against Standing Bear on Thursday, but Standing Bear came as close as anyone has to beating them. Bennington narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Standing Bear 6-4.

Dominic Mendocino looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Bennington let Jace Fitzgerald and Hunter Spencer run wild. Fitzgerald scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Spencer went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Spencer a new career-high. Morgan Schuman was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

Bennington pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. As for Standing Bear, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
