Football Recap: Newport Harbor Piles Up the Points Against Colony + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newport Harbor). They blew past the Colony Titans 45-14 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Sailors' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Titans are ranked 272nd).

Jake Meer produced another solid effort throwing for 289 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes, and also rushing for 52 yards on only seven carries. Those 289 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Shane McKibbin was Meer's top target, picking up 110 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Colony, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Newport Harbor and Colony will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Sailors see the field they'll take on Tesoro at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Colony, their break will end when they face Bonita at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
