Basketball Recap: Ocoee Wins Going Away Against Lake Wales

Ocoee meant business on Saturday, getting buckets from all over the court against a Highlanders squad that has allowed just 29.13 points per contest. The Ocoee Knights enjoyed a cozy 56-37 victory over the Lake Wales Highlanders.

Dakara Merthie continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 for 15 on her way to 23 points in addition to six assists and six boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Ocoee's points. The team also got some help courtesy of A'Niya Major, who posted nine points.

Ocoee's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Lake Wales, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

Ocoee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-34 victory against Seminole on the 10th. As for Lake Wales, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 55-37 win against Sebring on the 9th.
