Hickory waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 58-53 W against the Foard Tigers. Given the Red Tornadoes' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Tigers are ranked 570th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Foard still got an impressive performance from Noah Hedrick, who went 8-for-18 to rack up 23 points. With that strong performance, Hedrick is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Holden Caldwell, who went 5-for-8 en route to 14 points.

Hickory's victory bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Foard, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-22.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hickory will challenge Statesville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hickory's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games. As for Foard, they will take on St. Stephens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Foard is facing St. Stephens at the right time seeing as St. Stephens is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
