Softball Recap: Okawville Finds Home Field Redemption Against Wesclin

There's no place like home for Okawville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top against the Wesclin Warriors by a score of 7-2 on Tuesday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Kaylyn Cragen was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Cragen wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lily Helbig, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

The win got Okawville back to even at 6-6. As for Wesclin, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Okawville will head out to face off against Father McGivney Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wesclin, they will venture away from home to square off against Dupo at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
