Tom Bean won the last time they faced Savoy and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Tomcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cardinals a 20-0 shutout. The Tomcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Reid Sharp made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keaton Reed, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Donnie Hooten, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Tom Bean was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .769. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .406 or higher in five consecutive games.

Tom Bean pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Savoy, they are on a 27-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Tom Bean will challenge rival Honey Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tomcats 3.1, the Warriors 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Savoy is set to square off against their familiar foe Trenton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
