Softball Recap: Archbishop Alter Comes Up Short

Archbishop Alter had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-11 to make it nine. They came up short against the Bishop Fenwick Falcons, falling 14-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 back in March.

As for Bishop Fenwick, their record now sits at 5-8. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 22nd (when they won 15-0).

For Bishop Fenwick's part, Mackenzie Gibbons made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Gibbons has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Snelling Kinsey was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Carolyn, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Coming up, Archbishop Alter will host Oakwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bishop Fenwick, they will venture away from home to take on Archbishop McNicholas at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons are facing the Rockets at the right time seeing as the Rockets are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
