Basketball Recap: Hammond Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Augusta Christian

Hammond is ranked highly in their home state and on Monday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Augusta Christian. The Hammond Skyhawks received a blow as they fell 71-56 to the Augusta Christian Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 73-70 last Friday.

Augusta Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Uzziah Morton out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Morton a new career-high in blocks (six). Aamere Tolbert was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 14 points and nine boards.

Hammond's loss dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Augusta Christian, the victory was the 22nd in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-2.

Looking ahead, Hammond won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Northside Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Augusta Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
