Basketball Recap: Village's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Village played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 58-38 to the St. Francis Episcopal Wolves. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 438th, while the Wolves are ranked 82nd).

When it comes to explaining why Village lost, don't look at Evan Cochran. Despite the final result, he posted 17 points and five rebounds.

Christian Hodge was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds for St. Francis Episcopal. With that strong performance, Hodge is now averaging an impressive 2.1 blocks per game. Another player making a difference was John Laboy, II, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 10 points and five steals.

With the loss, Village broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-11. As for St. Francis Episcopal, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
