Softball Recap: Queen's Grant Wins Going Away Against Monroe

After only two runs in their last match, Queen's Grant made sure to put some runs up on the board against Monroe on Friday. The Stallions put the hurt on the Redhawks with a sharp 16-1 victory. Considering the Stallions have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Alyssa Steele made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Steele was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Nicole Strickland-Mitchell was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Lily Schott was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Queen's Grant always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .917. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Queen's Grant's record is now 13-1. As for Monroe, they dropped their record down to 1-13 with the loss, which was their 22nd straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Queen's Grant will be playing in front of their home fans against Union Preparatory at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Monroe, they will venture away from home to take on Parkwood at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Redhawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolf Pack have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
