Preview: T.W. Andrews Red Raiders vs. Bishop McGuinness Villains
The T.W. Andrews Red Raiders's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Bishop McGuinness Villains at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for T.W. Andrews on the road against West Stokes as the team secured a 63-20 victory. Given T.W. Andrews' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while West Stokes is ranked 511th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Janiya Milligan and Sanai' Johnson were among the main playmakers for T.W. Andrews as the former scored 14 points along with three steals and the latter scored 18 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephany Stafford, who scored six points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Bishop McGuinness scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 76-23 win over Bethany. With Bishop McGuinness ahead 47-17 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Adelaide Jernigan continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kiersten Varner, who scored 12 points.
T.W. Andrews pushed their record up to 17-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Bishop McGuinness, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 18-3.
T.W. Andrews skirted past Bishop McGuinness 45-42 in their previous matchup back in December of 2017. Does T.W. Andrews have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bishop McGuinness turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
