Softball Recap: Vina Red Devils vs. Oakman Wildcats
Vina saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oakman Wildcats. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Vina saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kenzie Elrod, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. The dominant performance gave Elrod a new career-high in stolen bases. Another was Cheyenne Strickland, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Even though they lost, Vina always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oakman only posted an OBP of .312.
Vina's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Oakman, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vina will venture away from home to challenge Meek at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Oakman, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats duke it out with the Tigers at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
