West Valley takes loss despite strong efforts from Chase Kalnins and Jordan Heacock

Recap: West Valley Eagles vs. Foothill Cougars

If the West Valley Eagles were feeling good off their 59-38 takedown of the Anderson Cubs on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. West Valley had to suffer through a rough 53-0 loss at the hands of Foothill. West Valley has struggled against Foothill recently, as their game on Saturday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, West Valley had strong showings from Jordan Heacock, who scored 19 points along with six steals and five rebounds, and Chase Kalnins, who scored 25 points along with two steals. Kalnins has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Blaze Collins, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.

Even though they lost, West Valley were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foothill only racked up four assists.

Foothill was led to victory by Cade Memeo and Tyler Zanhiser. Memeo scored 12 points along with six steals, while Zanhiser scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Caleb Belair, who scored eight points along with two steals.

West Valley now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Foothill, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7.

West Valley will take on University Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Foothill, they will head out on the road to square off against Chico at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chico has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 195 points over their last three matchups.
