Basketball Recap: Deer Isle-Stonington Takes a Loss

Deer Isle-Stonington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. The match between them and the Sumner Tigers didn't end well, with the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners falling 37-23. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mariners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-25 back in December of 2024.

Deer Isle-Stonington's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Sumner, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.

Deer Isle-Stonington won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Searsport at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Deer Isle-Stonington is facing Searsport at the right time seeing as Searsport is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Sumner, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against Mattanawcook at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sumner is on a five-game streak of home wins, Mattanawcook a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
