Basketball Recap: Avalon Drops Highest Score of Season Against Georgetown Day

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Avalon). They enjoyed a cozy 78-63 victory over the Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Black Knights as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Avalon was led to victory by Toran Ayana and Jordan Fox. Ayana dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Fox dropped a triple-double on 21 points, ten boards, and ten assists. Ayana continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Luke Arulefela, who posted nine points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Avalon was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Avalon's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5. As for Georgetown Day, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Avalon will be taking part in a tournament against New Hope Academy National at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Georgetown Day, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Maret at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Georgetown Day is facing Maret at the right time seeing as Maret is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
