Basketball Recap: North Rangers vs. Riverside Beavers
The North Rangers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by Riverside 61-29. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for North in their matchups with the Beavers: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Rangers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Samantha Cantrell, who scored seven points. Angelie Cisternino was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
North has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Riverside, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North will face off against the Rebels at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Ohio (South is ranked 580th, while the Rangers are ranked 599th). As for Riverside, they will head out on the road to face off against the Hilltoppers at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Chardon is on a four-game streak of home wins, the Beavers a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
