Baseball Game Preview: Algonquin Regional Titans vs. Shrewsbury Colonials

The Algonquin Regional Titans will venture away from home to face off against the Shrewsbury Colonials at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are still undefeated (Algonquin Regional has six wins , while Shrewsbury has seven dating back to last season).

While Algonquin Regional didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They beat Shepherd Hill Regional on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-1.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Shrewsbury and Westborough meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Colonials walked away with a 6-3 win over the Rangers. While the Colonials didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Algonquin Regional pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Shrewsbury, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.

Algonquin Regional couldn't quite finish off Shrewsbury in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
