Baseball Recap: Willowbrook Extends Winning Streak to Three

Willowbrook waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Proviso East Pirates a 9-0 shutout. Considering the Warriors have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Tommy Whiting looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Lorenzo Franco was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Charlie Siegler, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Willowbrook's win bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Proviso East, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Willowbrook will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
