Baseball Recap: Mission Veterans Memorial Takes Down Gregory-Portland in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mission Veterans Memorial had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Gregory-Portland Wildcats 3-2. This was payback for the Patriots, who suffered a 7-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Gabriel Cantu made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
