Softball Recap: East Greenwich Wins High-Profile Match Against Narragansett

East Greenwich faced Narragansett in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Avengers blew past the Mariners 15-1. The Avengers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by ten runs or more this season.

Chloe Hartman and Olivia DeShazo did most of the damage at the plate: Hartman scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while DeShazo scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave DeShazo a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Brooke Fairbanks, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.

East Greenwich always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .722. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .520 or higher in three consecutive matches.

The victory got East Greenwich back to even at 3-3. As for Narragansett, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-3.

East Greenwich didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-3 win against Lincoln on the 15th. As for Narragansett, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Middletown at 4:30 p.m. on the 21st.
