Baseball Game Preview: St. Dominic Saints vs. Old Orchard Beach Seagulls

The St. Dominic Saints will face off against the Old Orchard Beach Seagulls at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Wednesday, St. Dominic didn't have quite enough to beat Waynflete and fell 12-10. The Saints haven't had much luck with the Flyers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Riley Daigle was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Curtis Wheeler, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Old Orchard Beach put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Traip with a sharp 14-5 win. Surprisingly, this marked the Seagulls' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Colby Salamacha made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Salamacha was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Trot Moody was incredible, going 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Moody is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Wesley Gallant, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Old Orchard Beach's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for St. Dominic, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
