Baseball Recap: Cameron County Raiders vs. Port Allegany Gators
Cameron County extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-5. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Port Allegany Gators. The Raiders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Gators from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.
Cameron County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bo Pearsall, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Braxtyn Neyman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
As for Port Allegany, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.
On Port Allegany's side, Nick Wilfong was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Wilfong is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Moses, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Coincidentally, Cameron County and Port Allegany will both be playing Oswayo Valley the next time they take the field. The Gators will head out to face the Green Wave at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Raiders will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
