Soccer Game Preview: Eastside vs. Daniel

The Eastside Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Daniel Lions at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Eastside's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Gaffney. Payton Nutzman was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Daniel had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.2 goals) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. Everything went their way against the Fighting Tigers as they made off with a 10-0 win. Give Daniel's defense some credit: that's the team's sixth straight shutout.

Eastside is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 45 goals over those eight contests. As for Daniel, they pushed their record up to 7-2-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Eastside beat Daniel by a goal in their previous matchup back in May of 2019, winning 3-2. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
