Basketball Recap: Cunningham's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Central Christian, Cunningham was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They secured a 37-32 W over the Skyline Thunderbirds. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Cunningham's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rylee Miller, who posted 11 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. That's the most assists Miller has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ellie Mcguire, who put up ten points along with five boards and three steals.

Despite the loss, Skyline still got an impressive performance from Ashley Spease, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kodi McComb, who had four points.

Cunningham's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 5-13. As for Skyline, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Cunningham wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 41-37 loss against Stafford on the 20th. As for Skyline, they have also already played their next matchup, a 56-28 defeat against Norwich on the 17th.
