Baseball Recap: Riviera Prep Has No Trouble Against Somerset Academy South Homestead

Riviera Prep won the last time they faced Somerset Academy South Homestead and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Riviera Prep Bulldogs put the hurt on the Somerset Academy South Homestead Hurricanes with a sharp 18-2 victory.

Tanner Wasserman made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Jake Wohl was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Antonio Garcia was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

The win got Riviera Prep back to even at 1-1. As for Somerset Academy South Homestead, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riviera Prep will head out to face off against Marathon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Marathon's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Riviera Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Somerset Academy South Homestead, they will venture away from home to take on Ransom Everglades at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ransom Everglades will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Somerset Academy South Homestead surely won't give up without a fight.
