Baseball Game Preview: Hilliard Darby Panthers vs. Hilliard Bradley Jaguars

The Hilliard Darby Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Hilliard Bradley Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hilliard Darby is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Westerville South 15-5 on Monday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Drew Limbird and Cooper Gilkerson did most of the damage at the plate: Limbird went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Gilkerson went 4-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Limbird a new career-high. Xavier Hern also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Hilliard Darby was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Hilliard Bradley entered their tilt with Lincoln on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Lions.

Keaton Bowers was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Ritch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Hilliard Bradley pushed their record up to 11-12 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hilliard Darby, they now have a winning record of 13-12.

Hilliard Darby beat Hilliard Bradley 7-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
