Football Game Preview: Galena Pirates vs. Lena-Winslow Panthers

Galena hasn't had much luck against Lena-Winslow recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pirates will head out to take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m.

Galena had taken Stockton down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Pirates took a hard 30-12 fall against the Blackhawks. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Blackhawks are ranked 25th).

Meanwhile, Lena-Winslow entered their tilt with Morrison on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Mustangs 65-20. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won four matchups by 38 points or more so far this season.

Galena's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Lena-Winslow, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Galena came up short against Lena-Winslow in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 22-10. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
