Football Recap: Benton Tigers vs. Airline Vikings
Benton lost a close one when they played last Thursday but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on Friday was a bit more commanding. They had to suffer through a 55-28 loss at the hands of the Airline Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Vikings are ranked 30th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Airline to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ben Taylor, who threw for 274 yards and a touchdown while completing 82.4% of his passes, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. The dominant performance gave Taylor a new career-high in rushing yards. Micah Johnson helped Taylor out on the ground, rushing for seven yards and three touchdowns, while also picking up 58 receiving yards.
Benton dropped their record down to 1-2 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Airline, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Benton will challenge Huntington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Airline, they will square off against Union Parish at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
