Volleyball Recap: Overton Beats Southwest for Their Third Straight Win

Overton entered their tilt with Southwest on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Roughriders by a score of 2-0. The Eagles were shut out 2-0 the last time they took on the Roughriders, so the Eagles were just returning the favor.

Daisy Ryan paced Overton's offense, picking up seven kills. Ryan got some help from Halynn Hughes and her 19 assists. Ryan was also a major player on defense: she and Nevaeh Sauer shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with two each.

Overton's victory bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Southwest, the loss snapped their winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 15-2 record.

Overton and Southwest should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings. The Eagles will square off against Giltner on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (30 vs. 182). Meanwhile, Southwest (ranked 45th) will meet Decatur Community (ranked 176th) on Tuesday.
