Baseball Recap: Walnut Hills Comes Up Short

Walnut Hills extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-13 in the process. They lost 7-0 to the Little Miami Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 8-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Walnut Hills saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Johnny Ayers, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Little Miami, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

On Little Miami's side, they got a great performance from Jackson Reynolds as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. What's more, Reynolds posted three strikeouts, the most he's had over his last three matchups.

At the plate, Ian Arthur was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Basta, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, Walnut Hills will square off against New Richmond at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a five-game losing streak. Little Miami will be paying especially close attention to Walnut Hills' game: after Walnut Hills faces off against New Richmond, they'll take on Little Miami again at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
