Softball Game Recap: Hope Blue Wave vs. Rogers Vikings

Hope extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-5. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-0 to the Rogers Vikings, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Wave of the 12-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

As for Rogers, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1. Considering they have won eight matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Rogers' part, Lila Leys made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Leys has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Tess Margolis was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Nora Gardullo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Hope and Rogers will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Blue Wave see the field they'll take on Cranston East at 4:30 p.m. on May 12. As for Rogers, their break will end when they face Shea at 4:45 p.m. on May 7.
