Basketball Game Preview: Shawnee Mission West Vikings vs. Olathe East Hawks

After both having extra time off, the Shawnee Mission West Vikings and the Olathe East Hawks will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Two weeks ago, Shawnee Mission West was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 59-53 to Lawrence Free State. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Firebirds: they've now lost eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Olathe East lost 75-54 to Shawnee Mission Northwest two weeks ago. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Shawnee Mission West now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Olathe East, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Shawnee Mission West came up short against Olathe East when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 69-64. Can Shawnee Mission West avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
