Recap: Oakwood Panthers vs. Chester Yellowjackets
The Oakwood Panthers fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Chester Yellowjackets on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 32-31 to the Yellowjackets. Oakwood has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Oakwood's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Rai'Miaya Winston, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals, and Jacee Youngblood who scored 9 points along with 10 rebounds and 6 assists. The matchup was Winston's third in a row with at least ten points.
Chester was led to victory by Kyli Handley and Sydney Brock. Handley scored 11 points along with 3 steals, while Brock scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals. Brock is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Oakwood now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Chester, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Oakwood will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Scurry-Rosser at 11:00 a.m. on December 7th. As for Chester, they will face off against Non Varsity Tournament Opponent at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
