Softball Game Preview: Brimfield Indians vs. Illini Bluffs Tigers

Brimfield is on an 18-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Illini Bluffs is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Indians will host the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Illini Bluffs' hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: Brimfield hadn't allowed a single run the last six times they've hit the field. The Indians didn't even let Limestone on the board on Friday, marking the Indians' second-straight 11-0 shutout.

Sawyer Drury was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josie Wiewel, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Adelyn Magee was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Brimfield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Illini Bluffs got themselves on the board against Hartsburg-Emden on Thursday, but Hartsburg-Emden never followed suit. They blew past the Stags 18-0. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Stags recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Brimfield's victory bumped their record up to 19-2. As for Illini Bluffs, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.
