Basketball Preview: East St. John Wildcats vs. Archbishop Hannan Hawks
After five games on the road, East St. John is heading back home. They will take on the Archbishop Hannan Hawks at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in East St. John's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
Even though Lighthouse Private Christian Academy scored an imposing 63 points on Saturday, East St. John still came out on top. East St. John walked away with a 73-63 victory over the Stingrays. Given East St. John's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 77th in Louisiana, while the Stingrays are ranked 382nd in Florida), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Archbishop Hannan has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were beaten by Ponchatoula 73-43 on Saturday.
East St. John has been performing well recently as they've won 17 of their last 21 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. As for Archbishop Hannan, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-8.
East St. John skirted past the Hawks 44-42 when the teams last played back in December of 2021. Does East St. John have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
