Softball Recap: Colman-Egan C-E Hawks vs. Hanson Beavers

Colman-Egan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 17-2 to the Hanson Beavers. Colman-Egan was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hanson apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Colman-Egan saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maebe Groos, who went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run. Addison Geigle was another key contributor, going 1-for-3 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.

On Hanson's side, Olivia Kayser made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Kayser has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive pitching appearances. Kayser was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with a home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Hanson got a massive performance out of Dakota Jarding, who went 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and a triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Marek, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Colman-Egan's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Hanson, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4.

Colman-Egan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hanson, they will head out on the road to face off against Scotland/Menno at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams have allowed few runs on average, (Scotland/Menno: 3.7, Hanson: 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
