Baseball Recap: Amelia Academy Wins Going Away Against Cumberland

Amelia Academy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Cumberland on Tuesday. The Amelia Academy Patriots blew past the Cumberland Dukes 18-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Patriots also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Carson Dietz and Aiden Long were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Dietz tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Long tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Dietz a new career-low. At bat, Dietz scored four runs and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-4, while Long scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-5. Those two stolen bases gave Dietz a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carson Roberts was incredible, scoring four runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Jordan Hathaway was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one double.

Amelia Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cumberland only posted a batting average of .167.

Amelia Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Cumberland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
