Basketball Recap: Wooda Betts' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pewitt over Rivercrest

Pewitt was the 72-56 winner over Rivercrest when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Pewitt Brahmas took a 58-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rivercrest Rebels.

Pewitt's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wooda Betts, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine assists. Betts has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Wesley Smith was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Betts wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Pewitt was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Pewitt's loss dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Rivercrest, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-18.

Pewitt didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 43-39 victory against Maud on the 21st. As for Rivercrest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 40-33 defeat against Harts Bluff on the 21st.
