Softball Preview: Madison-Grant Argylls vs. Northwestern Tigers
The Madison-Grant Argylls will challenge the Northwestern Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Madison-Grant knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Northwestern likes a good challenge.
On Thursday, Madison-Grant made easy work of Eastbrook and carried off an 18-4 victory. Considering the Argylls have won six matches by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
McKenna Craig looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Grace Wood was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Carley Holliday was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Madison-Grant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Northwestern came up short against Rossville on Thursday and fell 6-1.
Madison-Grant has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
