Baseball Recap: Lakeside's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

After a string of seven wins, Lakeside's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Medical Lake Cardinals by a score of 6-5. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Cy Reeves was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Reeves was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his eight plate appearances with one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Kannon Almond made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-7 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Nicholas Hernandez was another key player, getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances with two runs.

Lakeside's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 10-8. As for Medical Lake, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lakeside beat the Cardinals by a score of 11-7 later that day.
