Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Johnson Central's Third in Last Four Outings

Shelby Valley came into Wednesday's contest looking for another win against Johnson Central, but Austin Slone wouldn't allow it. The Johnson Central Golden Eagles walked away with a 78-66 victory over the Shelby Valley Wildcats on Wednesday thanks in part to Slone, who went 10 of 16 en route to 32 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Brayden Shepherd, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 20 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last four times he's played.

Johnson Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.5 points per game. As for Shelby Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnson Central will head out to face off against Paintsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Paintsville is on a five-game streak of home wins, Johnson Central a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Shelby Valley has already played their next game (against Buckhorn), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
