The El Capitan Vaqueros will be taking part in a tournament against the West Hills Wolf Pack at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 67-38, which was the final score in El Capitan's tilt against Rancho Bernardo on Saturday. The Vaqueros have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Trevin Curo, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chance Smith, who posted six points.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 22-22 at halftime, West Hills was not quite Valhalla's equal in the second half on Monday. They took a 65-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Norsemen. While the Wolf Pack didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Norsemen 13-3 in the first quarter.
Like El Capitan, West Hills lost despite seeing results from several players. Malekai Dillon led the charge by putting up 13 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Shaw, who had six points along with eight assists and seven boards.
West Hills has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for El Capitan, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: El Capitan has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.8 boards per game. However, it's not like West Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
El Capitan came out on top in a nail-biter against West Hills in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, sneaking past 57-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for El Capitan since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
