Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Monroe's Fifth in Last Six Outings

If Central Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Monroe, they should've done a better job of containing Janiyah Boyd. The Monroe Redhawks simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Central Academy Cougars 82-22 thanks to Boyd, who went 14-for-21 on her way to 32 points in addition to eight assists and eight boards. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Monroe's points.

Monroe has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points over those games. As for Central Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-20 with the loss, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Monroe didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 78-61 defeat against Union Academy on the 12th. As for Central Academy, they will challenge Parkwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
