Baseball Recap: Wickenburg Wins Going Away Against Northland Prep Academy

Wickenburg never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Northland Prep Academy Spartans as the Wickenburg Wranglers made off with a 23-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wranglers.

Easton Forbrook made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Wickenburg's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Forbrook was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, Wickenburg let Hazen Jones and Larry Wilcox run wild. Jones went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Wilcox scored four runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Jones has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Zane Echols also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Wickenburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win got Wickenburg back to even at 4-4. As for Northland Prep Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wickenburg will face off against Kingman Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Northland Prep Academy, they will head out to face off against Ash Fork/Seligman at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
