Basketball Recap: Southern Drops Highest Score of Season Against Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southern). They blew past the Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer Titans 65-44 on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Southern's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cooper Warford, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. Warford's morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Kale Ames was another key player, going 6 for 10 on his way to 18 points and four steals.

Southern was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Southern now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Weeping Water at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer and Johnson-Brock will round out the year against one another at at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Johnson-Brock knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer likes a good challenge.
